We are here on earth to do good to others. What the others are here for, I don't know. -W.H. Auden
The possible's slow fuse is lit by the imagination. -Emily Dickinson
Hello! What you'll find here is a variety of my art work. And some helpful tips for you to create your own paintings, cartoons, and drawings using traditional and computer media.
Just click on any topic, above, to get started. The links in each page will help you easily navigate this site.
If you've thought about trying your hand at painting but haven't tried it yet, Acrylic Painting the Cheap and Easy Way tells how to get started for about $35. I've also added an easy, free 16-lesson course in creative acrylic painting. Each lesson is very brief and right to the point.
Char Simantel's portfolio page has links to some of my ex-wife's graphic design work.

Lose Weight the Easy Way tells how I lost 15 pounds without a commercial diet. I eat what I want but I try to eat smart.
Teach yourself almost anything is a recent, practical article on my favorite way of learning. Save money. Learn a lot.
For a fun game around your dinner table see my free "Dinner Game". It's a PDF file, so you'll need the free Acrobat Reader to view and print it.
You Tube is a great site for finding oldies songs. Just type in the song title or first few words of the song, and the artist/singer's name if you know it. I like to bookmark my favorites and play them when I need a musical lift. Newer songs are often under copyright restriction so you may not be able to view and listen to the music video on You Tube. If you'd like to read the lyrics to any favorite song, use Google and type in a few key words plus the word lyrics ("penny lane lyrics", for instance). It's fun to read lyrics which often remain rather vague in memory. Sing along with the actual song, too! Here are some of my favorites: Bad Day...A New Journey - Orinoco Flow...and Enya's inspiring version...Dances with Wolves...Somewhere over the Rainbow...Chiquitita...Perhaps Love...the Rainbow Connection...Grown up Christmas List...Ashokan Farewell...Chariots of Fire... Rainy Night in Georgia...Let the River Run...What a Wonderful World...To Everything there is a Season...Bless the beasts and the children...Eternal Flame...I'm so excited...Come Home...Wild Montana Skies...We may never pass this way again...What the world needs now...Love is the answer...Holly holy...The Games People Play (Joe South)...Games People Play (The Spinners)...Sam (Olivia Newton John)... Girls just wanna have fun!)...
Read about the inspiring, creative life of poet Emily Dickinson. You may find your own creative fire kindled! Since reading her poetry I continue to write poetry on a variety of topics. I find poetry to be an excellent way to be creative, vent, and write concisely. You can read more of my poems on PoemHunter.com. Go to Search and type Simantel.
I'D LIKE TO BE...
I'd like to be a robin,
Fly where I want to soar,
Enjoy the easy grace on wing,
Not earth-bound any more.
But tug at worms and eat them?
I'd rather stay hungry and poor!I'd like to be a cheetah,
Sprinting speedily as a car,
But catching prey and eating it?
I wouldn't go quite that far!Tunneling into earth,
I'd like to be a worm,
But toil at digesting soil?
That would make me squirm!
I'd mate with whom I will,
That might be some fun!
Feeling along the grass at night,
Away from sight and sun.I'd like to be a fish,
Perhaps a wily trout,
But gulp down grubs and insects?
I'd have to spit them out!i wish i was a swallow
free to swim and swerve on air
but eat a flying gnat
so tiny to my taste? -
well, i might do that!I guess I'll stay a human,
Entertain wild fantasies,
Eat what I like and when,
My appetite to please.INTELLIGENCE
the high intelligence of humans -
respect, admire, esteem
Intelligence Who made intelligence
vastly Supremer than we seem
As sun to speck of sand
God's mind
relative to manGOD IS MY “SHRINK”
God is my “Shrink”
i tell him all i think
feelings too
from my interior zooit seems to work
if i talk frank and informal
gee, i’m starting to feel
quite normal! Thanks for visiting. Your feedback is welcome. I have a copyright notice on most pages in this site.
